WHY SOLIDARITY SCHOLARS

Research indicates that limited family financial resources coupled with weak social connections leave many students unable to cope with a negative life event that interrupts their academic journey. Solidarity scholars seeks to be more than a scholarship fund by allowing groups to allocate funds to students for non-academic needs that impact a child’s ability to achieve in the classroom.

AN INNOVATIVE MODEL

Solidarity Groups, as used in micro-finance, will create a principle of joint responsibility education – wherein a group of parents and students join together to administer scholarship and other developmental funds in order to ensure that ALL students in the group maintain high levels of academic performance and maximize their prospects of a college education.
